Former ZP Member Sangram Keshari Paikaray along with 12 office-bearers of different wings of the BJP Ekamra-Bhubaneswar unit quit the party on Wednesday.
In the resignation letters sent to the BJP president Basant Panda, they said that stopping of Mahanadi water forcibly by the BJP-led Chhattisgarh Government and attack on the Chief Minister’s Private Secretary Karthikeyan Pandian are the two major reasons behind their quitting the party.
Addressing a Press conference here, Paikaray said he and others, being Odia, felt ashamed of the BJP’s violence and anti-Odisha activities and, thus, quit the party. Paikaray and others had quit the BJD and joined the saffron party two years back.
Among others, BJP Ekamra Gramina Mandal president Rabindra Patra, Rajarani Mandal president Samar Beura, PS Members Rashmita Srichandan and Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan, Yuva Morcha president Sushil Chhual Singh, Krushak Morcha president Pramod Swain, OBC Morcha president Bhakta Bhushan Barik, vice-presidents Bijay Kumar Samantaray, Subrat Kumar Paikaray and Sudhansu Shekhar Subuddhi, general secretary Rashmi Ranjan Shreechandan and many others resigned from their posts.
