Very light to moderate rainfall/thunderstorm occurred at few places while hail was experienced at isolated places in Dehradun, Nainital, Pithoragarh and Rudraprayag districts over the past 24 hours on Sunday. The Meteorological centre has forecast very light to light rain/thunderstorm at a few places especially in the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand on Monday. In Dehradun a spell of rain and hail was experienced on Saturday evening after which on Sunday cloudy sky with mild winds at noon and evening hours brought relief to the residents from warm conditions. The maximum temperature was recorded 35 degree Celsius with the minimum temperature being recorded at 19.6 degree Celsius in the provisional state capital on Sunday. Moreover, rainfall was reported in mountainous parts of the state including Kedarnath and Nainital on Sunday. The highest maximum temperature of 35.8°C was recorded at Pantnagar in the state on Sunday while lowest minimum temperature of 8.4°C was recorded at Munsiyari. By 8.30 am on Sunday, 20 mm rainfall was reported each in Pithoragarh and Bhatwadi, 10 mm each in Garud, Jolly Grant, Ghansali, Jakholi, Ukhimath, Uttarkashi, 4 mm in Dehradun and 0.8 mm in Tehri.
The director of the state meteorological centre, Bikram Singh said that the weather forecast for Dehradun on Monday is partly to generally cloudy sky and light rain/thunderstorm in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 degree Celsius and 20 degree Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Monday.
