A leopardess reportedly giving sleepless nights to villagers in the Belpadav area for some time now was captured by the forest department on Thursday. The big cat was later released in the jungles of Corbett national park.
The Belpadav forest range officer Santosh Pant informed that the local villagers had informed about a leopard spotted near a sugarcane field in Madanpur Gaibua village. Following this, forest department personnel from the Belpadav and Ramnagar ranges reached the spot.
The department personnel cordoned off the farm and succeeded in physically capturing the big cat securely. The Corbett senior veterinarian Dr Dushyant Sharma examined the big cat and kept it under observation for some time before the leopardess was released in the jungles of Corbett.
