Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) of Jharkhand High Court DN Patel said that lack of legal awareness was the biggest hurdle in the development of society and country as a whole.
Addressing a gathering at legal Services-Cum-Empowerment Camp at Banku Village under Sonahatu Block in Ranchi on Wednesday, Justice Patel also said that awareness level among the people have increased in the last few months through free legal awareness camps organized by International Human Rights Organisations.
“People need to take advantage to resolve issues among them with the help of the Prograrammes launched by National legal Service Awareness Prgramme (NAlSA),” said the Acting Chief Justice. legal volunteers have played an important role in making people aware of the free legal services being provided with the help of NAlSA, he added.
The judge while visiting the stalls at legal Services-Cum-Empowerment Camp also directed State President of International Human Rights Organization Rajesh Singh to publicise mediation related provisions also widely among the people along with the 10 point programmes of NAlSA. He also inspected stalls of government legal departments, banks and Aadhaar centers etc during the programme.
The camp was organised by International Human Rights Organization in association with Jharkhand legal Services Authority with the direction of National legal Services Authority under ‘Vidhik Seva Aapke Dwar’ programme.
Singh, putting light on the camp said that the 100 days ‘Vidhik Seva Aapke Dwar’ programme, which startred on November 9, has proved to be a success especially in the rural areas for which credit must be given to the senior law officers and the Judges.
“Over 4000 people visited the stalls during the camp on Tuesday and took information related to different legal services, who were also provided booklets and other reading materials published by the JHAlSA and IHRO,” he said.
In addition to that 124 persons gave their problems in written form which will be handed over to the Ranchi DlSA or JHAlSA.
30 Stalls, providing multipurpose Aids and Services were made available from 9.00 in the morning till 5.00 in the evening.
During this programme many compensation and Rehabilitation grants were also distributed to the needy persons and grants worth more than Rs 1 crore was disbursed during the camp. Compensation rehabilitation schemes were also announced during the programme.
Member Secretary of JHAlSA AK Rai, Judicial Commissioner Navneet Kumar, and JHAlSA Secretary Santosh Kumar along with Ranchi DlSA Secretary Rajesh Kumar were also present during the programme.
Sushil Kumar Pathak, Rati lal and several other officials, workers, volunteers, legal workers played an important part in organising the camp.
