The first phase of 49th Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) National Sports Meet 2018 started at the KIIT University here on Friday for Archery U-14, U-17, U-19 Boys and Girls, Badminton U-14, U-17, U-19 Boys and Girls, Basketball U-14 and U-19 Boys and Girls and Kabaddi U-14 and U-19 Boys and Girls.
Around 3,500 participants including players and escort teachers from over 25 regions like Agra, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Ernakulam, Guwhati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Raipur and others are participating in the mega national event’s first phase to conclude on July 2.
KIIT and KISS founder Prof Achyuta Samanta, KVS Deputy Commissioner Dr AVl Jagannath Rao, KVS Sports Cell Head Quarter PS Dara and KVS Assistant Commissioner Dr D Ojha attended as guests and inaugurated the event.
In Kabaddi U-19 Girls, Bhubaneswar region won against Raipur. The second phase would be held from July 5 to 8 for Chess, Yoga, Volleyball and Kho-Kho.
