Public Relations, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra today gave away letters of approval of financial assistance worth Rs 5 lakh each to the relatives of two deceased journalists of Madhya Pradesh.
This amount has been sanctioned under the Journalists Health and Accident Group Insurance Scheme.
Mishra said that the government is committed to provide financial assistance to the families of the journalists who died under unnatural circumstances.
Several steps have been taken in the state for the security and honour of journalists and to provide them facilities.
Seema Sharma, wife of late Manish Sharma, a journalist from Indore who died in a road mishap, was given an approval letter of Rs 5 lakh and a cheque. Similarly, Manish Jain was given an approval letter of Rs 5 lakh following the murder of his brother late Kamlesh Jain, journalist from Mandsaur as financial assistance.
This amount has been sanctioned under the United India Insurance Company’s Insurance Scheme.
Principal Secretary to the CM and Public Relations SK Mishra, Commissioner Public Relations P Narhari, Additional Director Public Relations MP Mishra, United India Insurance Company officials, Indore Press Club President Arvind Tiwari and journalists were present on the occasion.
