While mystery still shrouds the recent killer gift parcel incident in which two persons were killed in Patnagarh of Balangir district, Director General of Police (DGP) RP Sharma on Tuesday expressed confidence that police would crack the case soon.
Speaking to reporters here, Dr Sharma said already two special police teams led by the Balangir SP are working on the case.
A team is conducting a thorough investigation in Raipur, from where the parcel was dispatched, while several other angles in connection with the case are also being verified. Sharma further informed that the statements of the injured bride Rimarani would be recorded soon.
“The injured bride is undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital; and efforts will be made to record her statements,” said Sharma.
Police sources said already efforts have begun to nab the sender of the parcel.
Though it has been ascertained that the sender ‘RK Sharma’ of Raipur had dispatched the parcel, it is being verified whether the sender used his real or fake identity.
It may be recalled that three persons including Soumyasekhar Sahu, his grandmother Jenamani and wife Rinarani suffered grievous injuries while opening the parcel that was received as a marriage gift on February 23.
Soumyasekhar and Jenamani died while undergoing treatment at the VIMSAR in Burla the same day while Rimarani, who sustained nearly 36 per cent burn injuries, was shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack.
