A scribe of a local vernacular daily, Chandan Tiwary (32), was kidnapped and then murdered by criminals in Baltharwa forest in Chatra district on Monday evening. The incident has created shock waves across the State with journalists demanding early arrest of the criminals. Tiwary worked as a reporter from Pathhlagadha area of the Chatra district for the local daily.

Police said Tiwary was seen at Pathhalgadha Chowk at around 8 PM adding later he boarded a bike and went away. Soon afterwards news circulated that Tiwary has been kidnapped. The police along with the victim’s relatives launched a search in the locality and found Tiwary in critically injured condition in the Baltharwa forest in Simaria. He was rushed to the local hospital where the staffs declared him brought dead.

The Chatra SP Akhilesh B Verior who visited the place of occurrence of the crime told the reporters that a special investigation team has been formed to solve the case. He stated that police were investigating the case from various angles.

It may be noted here Tiwary had in April 2018 lodged a complaint before the Pathhalghdha police stating that three persons namely Mahesh Dangi, Md Serajul and Devki Dangi had threatened to beat him up after he  published a report in connection with alleged scam in PM Awas scheme. He had demanded security from the police in this connection.

He had stated that these three persons should be held responsible for any mishap against him in the future.
