The Keonjhar Vigilance Special Judge on Tuesday awarded one year of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to Baleswar DRDA Assistant Project Director Madan Mohan Majhi after convicting him in a fraud case committed during his earlier stint as the Executive Officer of Keonjhar Municipality.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs1,000 on him, failing the payment of which he would undergo one month more of RI concurrently.
Majhi had misappropriated Rs3, 50,195, which was received from the Keonjhar BSNl Telecom (Survey and Advance Project) Division Divisional Engineer for laying optical fibre cables in the Keonjhargarh Municipality area.
