The Bhopalites tapped their feet on Sufi Music by a renowned Sufi singer Kanwar Grewal as he gave a scintillating performance on the concluding event of 33rd lokrang festival.
To observe the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a cultural event ‘Peer Parayi Jaane Na Re’ is held to mark the conclusion of lokrang festival every year. The five-day long programme had a grand closure with the melodious and tuneful performance. The entire BHEl Dusshera Ground was jam packed as Kanwar Grewal presented his performance.
It is to be noted that Kanwar Grewal stands tall among all Sufi singers, with his unusual ability to present this genre of music in its truest form. His voice and style of singing is indeed suited to Sufi renditions. This noted Sufi artist is loved by all for his inimitable and significant contribution in the field of music.
He began his performance with ‘mast Bandenge Biba’. He then performed another Sufi song Tumba Vajda.
As Kanwar Grewal gave melodic performances one after the other, the audience too asked him to perform songs of their choice. As he performed ‘Meri Apni Zameer Saudebaaz Ho Gai’ the audience enjoyed every bit of it.
He performed his various compositions to mark a tuneful conclusion. The art and music lovers of the city listened to his performance with rapt attention and enjoyed to the fullest.
As Grewal was giving a mesmerizing performance, the Sufi music lovers listened to him with rapt attentions. Each composition he presented was with the same purity and same innocence. Grewal is most versatile in his singing and this has been time and again proven by his various singing styles.
He was accompanied by Nirmal Singh on Tumba, Ramanjeet on guitar, Dharmendra Pal on keyboard, Deepak Kumar on Octopad, Kashmir lal on drum and Shivam on tabla. At the same time Mani Singh, Babarik Singh, Harjinder Singh ladi supported the chorus.
