JPCC president demands CBI probe into multiple scams

Monday, 31 December 2018 | PNS | Jamshedpur

State Congress president Ajoy Kumar on Sunday demanded a CBI inquiry under the supervision of a High Court judge into the blanket and JHARCRAFT scams in the State.

Addressing the media at Congress district office at Bistupur, the former Jamshedpur MP said the several scams have surfaced under CM Raghubar Das' regime.

The Congress leader pointed that the CAG report has clearly mentioned of blanket scam of Rs 18.41 crore, while Shah brother mining lease scam of Rs 1,113 crore is also out before the people.

"It is clear that Jharkhand weavers had not made 10 lakh blankets for the State government's distribution scheme but Jharcraft had procured them from outside agencies at a higher price, indicating a scam worth Rs 500-600 crore," Kumar said.

Kumar said that the major achievements of the BJP-led government include a series of scams and self-promotion by Raghubar Das.

He listed land scam, scam in Jharcraft, liquor and mining scams as some of the major scams where irregularities have been reported. Kumar said that if CBI probe is not into, the party will file a PIL in court.

“The State is reeling under scams. Even the CAG has said in its report about the irregularities in payment worth crores by Jharcraft for purchase of quilts. The Chief Minister has not taken any action as the people,” Kumar said.

The leader said that to mislead the people fake data has been presented before the people as the government in reality was a failure at every front in the State.

He alleged that in all the departments which are in the portfolio of the Chief Minister maximum scams have taken place and the biggest example was the corruption in constructing the high court building in the capital.

He said, no other Chief Minister in the country has so many department which are currently with Das.

Kumar claimed that the law and order has hit an all time low with broad daylight incidents of crime becoming a regular feature.  He added that the situation at Jharkhand has become a matter of great concern. He also said that the criminals have regained confidence after law and order machinery has gone for a toss.

On the other hand, the state's failed intelligence and police administration are offering challenges after the criminals are executing one after the other. There is an atmosphere of chaos across the country.
