Constant harassment by DGM (HR) of Tenughat thermal power station forced Sohan Chaoudhary, a 50-year-old junior engineer to hang himself on Wednesday, said his son Deepak Kuber.
Sohan Chaoudhary, who had been working in TTPS as junior engineer and living in his official quarter E-type in the lalpania for four years,but DGM (HR) has been allotted him to D-type quarter and also frequently asked him to vacate the old quarter immediately. According to his son Deepak Kuber, he belonged to schedule caste and soft-spoken. This made him an easy target, and his DGM,Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, constantly asking him to vacate his E-type quarter. If he demanded some time to vacate,he would rough him up. "It was the mental torture, rather than physical, that led my father to take the extreme step," said his son.
On Wednesday, when family members went to his room, they found Sohan Chaudhary hanging from the ceiling fan. "DGM would often ask him for vaccination and when he resisted, he would harassed him in the office as well as outside. He would often cry," said his son,who was witness to father being tortured.
While DGM( HR),Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said that i am shocked to know about the incident and Chudhary was a nice person and II was only doing my official decoram.Aligation against me was baseless.
However his son lodged a case in lalpania police station against DGM and police started its investigation.
