Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Saturday said that the State government was building the largest war memorial in the country, which would have life history of all martyrs from Jharkhand
apart from a symbol of the Kargil war.He said the memorial would educate the youths of their responsibility towards the nation.
The CM on the occasion of the three-day ‘Parakram Parv’ celebrations organised at the Audrey House asked every citizen to boost morale of the Indian army, which has carved a niche for themselves in the world due to its valour. He said the people of the country are obliged towards the army personnel for their sacrifice in protecting the borders.
Das said State government has decided to increase the amount provided to dependent of martyred army jawans to Rs 10 lakh from the 2 lakh earlier. He said the government is also giving jobs to one member of the family and also allocating land to them for building houses.
He said Prakaram Diwas was being celebrated on September 29 as a small team of the Indian army carried out a strike inside the Pakistani border to demolish the base camps of the terrorists.
Das said Jharkhand has also produced several brave sons including Birsa Munda and Albert Ekka.
He also urged the citizens to end mutual difference and stand united to fight for the country in crisis situations.
The CM also paid homage to the martyrs at the War Memorial in Ranchi on the occasion. He also saw the exhibition organised by the Indian Army. The Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathy, Home Secretary SKG Rahate and army officers were present on the occasion.
Earlier in the day, the CM visited War memorial at Dipatoli Cantt where the Brahmastra Corps organised a ‘Know Your Army’ event to celebrate ‘Parakram Parv’, commemorating the Indian Army’s Valour for the students of Ranchi so as to give them a deeper insight into the proud achievement and growing capabilities of the Indian Army.
Lieutenant General PN Rao, YSM, SM, General Officer Commanding, Brahmastra Corps, said that the objective of organising this event was to reach out to the masses especially the younger generation and motivate them to join Indian Army and also to increase the awareness of the general public about the capability and invaluable achievements of the Army.
The event commenced with a motivational movie on Indian Army and followed by a magnificent band display by the colourful military pipe band.
Latest weapons, vehicles and equipment were displayed demonstrating the might of Indian Army to hundreds of curious young boys and girls who were aspiring to be part of the elite Armed Forces.
The celebration was witnessed by more than 800 students including cadets of Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society.
The unique event provided an unforgettable and motivational experience for the youth to see and feel from close quarters, the army way of life.
