IPSOWA’S Diwali Mela to kick off tomorrow

IPS Officers Wives Association’s (IPSOWA) annual grand event – IPSOWA Diwali Mela - enfolding various colours is all set to start on November 1. The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Raghubar Das. Children of ‘Aanchal Shishu Vihar’ will be present as distinguished guests during the inauguration.

“The four-day event will cater to the requirements of ‘shopaholics’ with a range of products available under one roof. Activities ranging from organising cultural nights to conducting different competitions for children, the fair will have something for all age groups and for people of all walks of life. Other major attraction of the fair includes – baby show, band display competition, painting competition, fancy dress competition etc,” said IPSOWA president, Poonam Pandey while addressing a press meet here on Tuesday.

“On the inaugural day, a cultural programme will be held by Mrinalini Akhouri and her team while people of old age homes including orphan children will be visiting the fair. Also, Indian Idol winner – Raja Hasan will entertain the audiences with the latest chartbusters,” Pandey further added.Artisans from across the country will put up their stalls in the fair with their respective State’s specialties including some unique products. Stalls of different NGOs and Police Department will be also put up at the fair.

Besides the regular cuisines, fair hoppers, this season will get to taste Nepali and tribal delicacies. Special recognition honour will be given those policemen who have left their distinct mark in different fields like sports etc.

Entry for differently-abled kids and for children of police personnel is free. IPSOWA members released the posters. Ranjana Mallick, Vartika Dwivedi, Priti Homkar along with others were present on the occasion.
