With the water crisis in the State affecting the residents and the tourists, Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Wednesday directed the officers concerned to take proper action to ensure water supply.
Presiding over a meeting of senior officers held here to review the supply of adequate drinking water to Shimla, the Chief Minister was apprised about the water supply situation and its distribution by the officers in the meeting.
The Chief Minister was apprised that MC Shimla received 21.75 MlD water on Wednesday which was distributed according to the schedule. Around 2.25 lakh litre water was distributed through 27 tankers which were pressed into service to provide water at 63 points in the city.
Chief Minister also reviewed the current condition of various water supply schemes of entire State. The officers apprised that there were 9,590 drinking water supply schemes in the State out of which 350 were critically affected, 1,131 mildly affected. They informed that 11 places were identified in Shimla city for installing handpumps and work has been started.
