In view of the annual People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Week to be observed from December 2 to 8, a high alert has been sounded in all Maoist-hit districts of the State.
Sources said during the week, the Maoists would conduct meetings and rally in all villages. During the week, the Red rebels usually focus on recruitment of new cadres and pay tributes to those who are killed in encounters with police and security forces.
Besides, martyr pillars in the villages will be constructed in memory of the comrades.
The Central forces like BSF and CRPF have been asked to remain on high alert and keep watch on Maoist activities in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Kandhamal districts.
According to sources, the combing operations are scheduled to be intensified by the district police, Special Operation Group (SOG) and the District Voluntary Force (DVF).
In view of the week-long programme, a high alert has been issued in all districts bordering Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand in order to prevent any untoward incident.
The banned outfit has been observing the PLGA week in memory of slain cadres Nalla Adi Reddy, alias Syam, Murali and Naresh, who were killed in an encounter at Koyyuru in Karimnagar in Andhra Pradesh in 2000.
