Heavy rain lashes Capital, more likely across State

Heavy rain lashed the state capital late in the night on Wednesday and recorded 1 cm of rainfall in the past 24 hours.

Even after heavy rainfall state capital is still remains rainfall deficit. The state capital recorded heavy rainfall on Wednesday during day and night while during the day on Thursday light rainfall at few places was recorded.

Pattern witnessed in the state capital prevailed across the state as light rainfall has been witnessed across several places but heavy downpour was recorded at few places.

Indore recorded 6 cm of rainfall which the highest in the state. Chhatarpur and Rajnagar recorded 5 cm of rainfall each, Nagod and Hanumana recorded 4 cm of rainfall each, Umaria, Ishagarh and Dindori recorded 3 cm of rainfall each while Nowgong, Katni, Nainpur and Depalpur recorded 2 cm of rainfall each.

The Met department officials said that an Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over north Odisha and an Upper Air Cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat are the systems which have induced the weather changes.

Good rainfall is expected due to a system over Bay of Bengal.

In the past 24 hours Jabalpur, Sagar and Indore divisions recorded good rainfall at most of the places and in Rewa and Ujjain divisions several places recorded good rainfall.

Few places in Hoshangabad and Shahdol also recorded rainfall.

The system has weakened due to which warning of heavy rainfall has not been issued by Met department on Thursday but still chances of heavy rainfall within next 2-3 days remain high told the Met officials.
