Chancellor of universities and Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal has stressed on moral uplift as well as skill development of the students while addressing the 9th Convocation of the Fakir Mohan University at its new campus at Nuapadhi here on Thursday.
“The need of hour is to move from ego-centric to geo-centric and shifting from personal to transpersonal, to a mindset that is more inclusive. I have great expectations from the youth of today. They have to be a ‘Generation we’ than ‘Generation me’ and are more focused on others rather than on themselves,” said he.
“Let the university be a place where ideas born from dynamic research environment thrive. May FM University raise its level using all the resources at its disposal and bring innovation in standards of teaching, workforce needs and design of curriculum,” said Lal.
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Director Prof SC Sharma said, “Advancement is possible only if education of a practical character is liberally provided and the social evils which obstruct progress are systemically removed.”
Vice-Chancellor Madhumita spoke about the university’s infrastructure development.
She said Rs 50 crore has been allocated by the State Government out of which Rs 10 crore is sanctioned for the academic block.
The university received Rs 17.41 crore from the World Bank for a period of five years towards an institutional development plan of the university as well as its 94 affiliating colleges. It has further received Rs 15 crore from the State Government for construction of a 1,000-seat convention centre.
She said the faculty recruitment could not be completed due to a ban by the Supreme Court and it is a great challenge for the university. The university is going to launch an India-Kazakh Cultural Centre.
The university conferred honorary degreea of DLit and DSc on two eminent persons. Besides, several others were awarded doctoral degrees.
University Registrar Amar Singh Soren and other staffs coordinated the event.
