Governor Droupadi Murmu on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas paid rich tribute to the martyrs and brave soldiers for the famous victory against Pakistan. Attending a programme organised annually by All India Ex-soldiers Service Council on Monday, the Governor also stressed over infusing the sense of nationalism in the hearts and minds of the younger generation.
“I on this glorious day want to pay homage to all those brave men who laid down their lives for the country while delivering their duty to the nation. Our country is land of brave which has been shown by our great freedom fighters to get independence for us. It was their long struggle and selflessness which got us the status of free citizen. later it was the brave soldiers who leaving their family and comfort remained firm for the unity and sovereignty of the country and protected our boarders,” said the Governor.
Recalling the sequence of event, she said the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpayee had gone to Pakistan with peace message but got backstabbing in return. However, the bravery of the soldiers flushed them out with great deal of difficulty at the heights of 17000 feet at Tiger Hills and others.
The Governor on the occasion particularly recalled the contributions of Capt Manoj Kumar Pandey, Rifleman Sanjay Kumar, Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav and Capt Vikram Batra.
The Governor also praised the council’s effort in Jharkhand for regularly organising the programme which, she said, would infuse sense of patriotism in the newer generation.
