Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while laying foundation for the Major Irrigation Project costing Rs 2,208 crore at Pichhore Tahsil Headquarters of Shivpuri District on Monday, said the State Government will decide support price by adding 50 per cent dividends in agriculture produce cost in the coming days.
He mentioned that the State Government will procure crops from farmers at this kind of decided support price only. Chouhan also made an announcement to grant status of Nagar Panchayat to Magrouni town on the occasion.
Chouhan has said that a provision of potable water arrangement has also been made for Khaniyadhana and Pichhore area from the major irrigation project. He further informed that the irrigation area has been increased to 40 lakh hectare in the state. Now the State Government has target to increase it further to 80 lakh hectare. Chouhan informed huge public gathering about the Sambal Yojana besides other important schemes and also distributed benefits of various schemes among the beneficiaries during the programme.
The Minister for Public Relations, Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Narottam Mishra has informed that the project will have full water storing capacity of 371.80 metric square metre and water catchment area of 1843 square km. He further mentioned that the project will facilitate irrigation on 1.67 lakh acre land of 208 villages of Pichhore Assembly Constituency, 7,000 acre land of 11 villages of Shivpuri Assembly Constituency, 67,000 acre land of 87 villages of Karera Assembly Constituency and 32 thousand acre land of 37 villages of Datia Assembly Constituency.
Chouhan honoured the Former Revenue Minister laxminarayan Gupta, who was presiding over the programme by presenting him shawl and shriphal. He also honoured Ashiya Khan of Pichhore for winning gold medal in the National Badminton Competition. Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources RS Julaniya apprised about the project. MlA Prahalad Bharti, other Public Representatives, Eminent Citizens and Villagers in large number were present during the programme.
