The BJP on Tuesday said that an Emergency-like situation has now prevailed in Odisha as the “State is suppressing all democratic agitations being staged by lawyers, farmers, teachers, chit fund losers and opponent political parties”.
“The biggest responsibility of a Government is to provide justice and good governance to people.
The State Government is silent while courts remain nonfunctional for over two months due to lawyers’ strike and common people suffer a lot. Now, a Constitutional crisis has emerged in the
State and, thus, the Naveen Patnaik Government has no moral rights to continue in office,” said senior BJP leader and former Law Minister Bishwabhushan Harichandan at a Press meet here.
He demanded that the Government hold talks with the lawyers to resolve their issue.
Among others, party vice-president Sameer Mohanty and BJP Yuba Morcha State president Tankadhar Tripathy were present.
