Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma on Tuesday said that with the commencement of new academic session from April 1, 2018, free of cost books would be made available to students getting enrolled in classes I to VIII in Government schools.
Sharma said that Haryana School Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad would provide free of cost books to students at the time of their enrolment so that they could get quality education right from the start of the academic session.
The Minister said that during last many years there was delay in printing of textbooks, but this year the Department has fixed the prices of books for all classes and directed the selected six firms to complete printing of textbooks within 45 days.
He added that books of 112 titles would be provided to about 17 lakh students studying in classes I to VIII at a cost of about Rs 40 crore.
