The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken action against 130 teachers and coordinators across the country including seven from Bhubaneswar for alleged errors in calculating marks awarded during the Class-XII board examination revaluation.
The CBSE had formed a committee and sought report from different regions after students and parents alleged errors in revaluation of the Class-XII papers.
“The action taken by CBSE is a proof that issues raised by us last year were genuine. However, mere punishing just handful of these teachers is not enough. There should be a reform in the conduct of examination,” Odisha Parents’ Association chairman Sudarshan Das. Earlier, parents and students of Class-XII CBSE Board from various schools across the country including Bhubaneswar had staged dharna in front of the board office protesting discrepancies and faulty evaluation of answer sheets. The protestors had demanded immediate action by authorities to correct the errors and immediate declaration of results. later, following a petition filed over discrepancies in publication of Class-XII results, the Orissa High Court had directed CBSE to conduct reevaluation of answer sheets of 159 students.
