Toughening its stand further on the agitation of Government schools teachers, the education department has directed the officers to file FIRs against the teachers who are involved in the proposed lock down of offices on July 31. The agitating Rajkeeya Shikshak Sangh (RSS), the association of Government school lecturers and lecturer teachers (lT) has given a call to lock down offices of education officers in all district headquarters and education directorate in Dehradun.
In an order to all Chief Education Officers (CEO) the education director, R K Kunwar has said that putting a lock on the offices amounts to disturbing the Government work. He directed the CEO to make arrangements for videography of the proposed lock down and identify those involved in the locking the gates. Kunwar added that departmental action should also be initiated against the teachers who are absent from the schools.
The threat of filing cases against the teachers involved in lock down closely follows the department’s action on leaders of the association of teachers. On Sunday the department transferred the President of RSS, K K Dimri, General Secretary Sohan Singh Majila and former President Ram Singh Chauhan from their present places of posting.
Meanwhile the agitating teachers have decided to intensify its agitation further. Their association has threatened that from July 31 some members would sit on fast unto death at state education directorate. The general secretary of the association Sohan Singh Majila said that the Government has retorted to stifle the democratic protest of the teachers. He said that by transferring the leaders of the association the department has violated the Transfers Act blatantly.
In support of their 18 point demands the lecturers and lTs of Government schools are on warpath from July 21. There major demands are implementation of Assured Career Progression (ACP) and more promotional avenues.
