The head master of a primary school was suspended for allegedly coming to school in an inebriated condition.
Similarly, an assistant teacher of another primary school of Rourkela city also was placed under suspension for allegedly beating a student and injuring his head.
According to sources, Baidhar Rana works as headmaster of Mushaposh project primary school under Gurundia block of the district. On Wednesday, Rana reportedly had come late to the school and that too in an inebriated condition.
While entering in to the school, Rana was not in a condition to walk properly. He had taken out his shirt in presence of the school students and in the process had fallen on the ground and had lost his sense as well.
A picture showing headmaster Rana sleeping on the corridor of the school and a group of students standing by him had become viral in social media, following which District Education Officer DC Behera had directed Block Education officer (BEO) Gurundia Rabindra Majhi to conduct an inquiry and initiate appropriate disciplinary action, if found guilty.
"It was found during the inquiry that headmaster Rana had come to the school in an inebriated condition and therefore we have placed him under suspension," said BEO Rabindra Majhi.
Similarly, Narayana Sarangi, working as an assistant teacher in Gopabdhupalli upper primary school, Rourkela was also placed under suspension on Friday for beating one class VI student of his school on Wednesday. Narotama Sahoo, father of the victim child, had lodged a formal complaint with BEO Rourkela Garoti Tete. After conducting an inquiry, Tete served the suspension order to Sarangi on Friday.
