Bringing laurels to the alma mater at the national level, nine students of DPS Bokaro Steel City fetched second runners-up award in the Inter DPS Dance Festival- Nrityanjali which was hosted by DPS Greater Noida on November 24.
A total of 24 teams from across the country participated in the event in which host DPS Noida and DPS Mangalore were declared joint champions while DPS Navi Mumbai and DPS Pali Road Jodhpur were declared first runners-up. Two topics on which the dances were to be performed by the schools were Barah Masa(twelve months season) and Kavyanjali, informed Mritunjay Sharma Administrator cum PRO of DPS Bokaro. Aditi Agarwal, Ishika Dutta, Shaurya Yashu, Khushi Nandan, Kavya Jha, Aditi Thakur, Amisha Singh, Arpita Bhagat and Aishwarya Singh performed a thematic dance (Barah Masah) choreographed in Kathak Dance Style which depicted the cycle of seasons and its celebration.
DPS Bokaro was the only team in the country which fetched the special award for ‘Most Synchronised and Rhythmic Movement’ along with getting the second runners-up award, he said.
Elated on the success of the team the Director and Principal of DPS Bokaro Dr. Hemlata S Mohan had high praising words for the dancers including the mentor Nirmalya Sharma for playing an instrumental role in getting the national accolade.
Congratulating the winners she remarked that Dance is one of the most important elements that represent India’s diverse culture in the globe and our students are performing exemplary and playing an important role in shaping the culture of our country.
