Taking note of increasing cyber crimes in the plain and mountainous districts of the State, senior police officers have directed the district police to form a team of five police officers or personnel in mountainous districts and 10 police officers or personnel in plain districts. These teams will be trained to tackle cases of cyber crimes. The State Director General of police Anil K Raturi said that society is moving towards digitalisation and on the one hand it is upgrading the human life while on the other side cyber crimes are increasing manifold on a regular basis. Due to cyber crimes, society is suffering and it has become a big challenge for the society as a whole.
The police authorities responsible for maintaining law and order should be cautious over increasing cyber crimes and they should take steps at their level to put a check on it, said the DGP. He further said that complaints related to cyber crimes should be taken seriously and an arrangement should be made to crack cyber cases by the police without delay. He directed the district police chiefs to form a team of five police officers or personnel in mountainous districts and 10 police officers or personnel in plain districts.
These teams will be trained in cyber science in order to enable them to tackle cases of cyber crimes. Police head quarters would also provide them training from time to time, he added. State additional director general of police (law and order) Ashok Kumar has also asked the district police chiefs to strengthen the working capability of cyber crime cell formed at district level. This would help in cracking cases of cyber crimes at the earliest, he added.
