A large number of people under the banner of different political parties including the Congress and the JMM staged demonstrations, protesting the hike in electricity charges, at different locations in Bokaro.
They raised slogans against the BJP Government and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Raghubar Das at Subas Chowak in Chas.
“The State Government should roll back the hike done to power tariff and lessen the burden on the common man,” said Jamkil Akather, president of Bokaro unit of the Congress on Sunday. He threatened for massive statewide agitation and said, “If the government does not pay any heed on our demand on roll back electricity price we would protest all over,” added Akather.
Branding the present Government as ‘anti-poor’ and ‘anti-farmer’ Manu a JMM leader alleged that Government is only facilitating to the industrialists and not paying heed to poor.
The JMM leaders vowed to mobilise people in large numbers against the price rise and launch a series of agitations to apply pressure on the Government.
