A day after the RBI declared that 99.3 per cent of the banned currencies post demonetisation has returned to its chests, the Congress from Delhi to Ranchi termed the exercise a massive failure.
Following AICC president Rahul Gandhi addressing the press in the national capital on Thursday, PCC president Ajoy Kumar went on declaring the announcement done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2016 as biggest scam.
“After Rafale, demonetisation has been the biggest corruption done under the Modi regime when he allowed black money to become white in no time. This is proven by the RBI’s disclosure. The entire exercise failed miserably since none of the purposes counted by the PM then like end of terrorist activities, stone pelting in Kashmir and naxal violence could be fulfilled,” said the State Congress chief.
He also alleged that people closer to the BJP got benefited by the scheme and massive amount of illicitly earned wealth turned into legitimate money overnight. “This was a tactical approach by the BJP president and the PM to benefit their fund raisers. Congress believes that it was a scam and those responsible for misleading the people of the country should apologize and quit,” said Ajoy Kumar during the press conference attended by Alok Dubey, lal Kishore Nath Sahadeo and others.
The party’s minority cell also met in the leadership of its chief Shakil Akthar Ansari also took place where the leaders pitched for clear goal.
