Cyber criminals seem to be shifting their bases to second capital Dumka as four cyber persons have been arrested on Tuesday. The catch is second in last two months.
Running a fake call centre at Chorkheda, barley 2 km from Jarmundi police station, the arrested youths are between 25 and 30 years of age and hail from Jarmundi area of Dumka district. Dy SP Sri Samad said that the arrested have been identified as Dhanu Mandal, Radheshyam Mandal, Nitesh Mandal and Shasi Mandal.
The accused have cheated an innocent and businessman from the city, said the Dy SP. “Modus operandi of all four accused was as impersonating employees of banks or a popular shopping channel while calling up victims and asking them to part with accounts details and their sources from where they collected personal details of people,” said the official. Twelve phones have been recovered with sensitive details of over 100 persons such as their phone numbers, bank account and Aadhar numbers.
