Cyber crime cell has nabbed a 26-year-old man on the charge of defaming victim girl by chatting in abusive and vulgar language with her friends over facebook; the accused hacked victim’s facebook after obtaining username and password.
Police said that the accused was nabbed after a complaint of hacking facebook profile and chatting in the name of the victim was lodged with the police. It was a case of Shoulder Surfing.
The victim lodged a complaint with the cyber crime cell regarding the accused hacked her facebook and used to chat with her friends indecently with the aim to defame her among friends and society.
During the investigation the police found that the fake profile was operated from the state capital and later the accused was nabbed who was found to be friend of the victim and identified as Sumit Maina of Kotra Sultanabad area.
Police nabbed Sumit and he accused confessed that he was friend with the victim and used to visit her house.
The victim broke with her and after the break up accused got user name and password while she was using facebook. The accused used the details and changed the password of the facebook of the victim and chat with her friends in lewd manner.
The victim came to know about the vulgar and offensive chatting by the accused by her friends after which she lodged complaint with the police.
Based on the complaint after the preliminary investigation the police have registered a case under section 66 C of the IT Act.
