Acting tough on the complaints of unscientific disposal of debris generated during the ongoing construction of the ambitious ‘All- Weather Road’ project, the chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh has directed the officials concerned to ensure that the debris are disposed as per the norms. The CS reviewed of the Char Dham road project by video conferencing at the state secretariat on the day.
He sternly warned that debris should be disposed in accordance with the laid down norms in a scientific manner.
The CS gave strict instructions that the debris should be disposed of at the demarcated sites only and there should be an encircling boundary on all sides of the waste disposal site. Singh directed the officers that they should include site inspection in their travel plans. He also asked the officers concerned to shift the drinking water pipeline, electricity wires and poles promptly so that the work of road widening is expedited. Singh said that the utilities should be shifted so that there is no obstacle in the road construction and widening works.
In the meeting, the CS also gave instructions to the district magistrates to quickly dispose of the arbitration matters. He asked the regional officer (RO) to release the pending budget without delay so that the temporary personnel engaged in the project are paid on time. He also instructed the DMs of Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Champawat and Pithoragarh that the construction of road should be completed within the deadline fixed for the purpose.
The Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash, Secretary Revenue Vinod Raturi, PWD under Secretary Dinesh Chandra Punetha and Regional Officer Road Transport and Highways Ministry, BRO were present at the meeting.
