CS Ajay Singh reviews Bharat Net Project

Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Ajay Singh chaired the third meeting of Bharat Net Project at Secretariat (Mahanadi Bhavan) on Friday, wherein expansion works of network connectivity in rural areas of Chhattisgarh under project phase-2 were reviewed.

Chief Secretary gave instruction to work in coordination with the officials of Government of India's Rural Development, Forest, Home and Telecommunication Ministries and other departments. In the meeting, CHiPS CEO Alex Paul Menon informed about the project in detail.

It was informed in the meeting that the action plan worth Rs 1624 crore has been chalked out for connecting nearly six thousand Gram Panchayats with optical fibre network.  Under this action plan, work is in progress to provide wi-fi facility for high quality telecommunication connectivity in Gram Panchayats of state. In the meeting, the additional expenditures on the project were discussed. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Department R P Mandal, Information Technology Department Secretary Sanjay Shukla, Commerce Industry and Finance Department Secretary Dr Kamalpreet Singh, Forest, PWD and other department officials. Officers of BSNl, Telecommunication Department and Broadband Network were also present in the meeting.
