Conclave spreads awareness about environment conservation projects

In an attempt to sensitize the people on various environmental issues and to create awareness about environment conservation programmes, government organizations and private bodies have put up stalls in a week long Environmental Conclave in the State Capital, started from May 29. Environmental Conclave has made a great initiative to create awareness among the people of Jharkhand and especially among youth about various environment conservation projects.

An exhibition displaying several different kinds of marine species collected from Swarnrekha and Damodar River is put by Yugantar Bharti. “The marine species have been collected since 2004 for research by the Zoological Survey of India. Damodar and Swarnrekha Mahotsav has been initiated by Yugantar Bharti Organization to create awareness about endangered marine life.” said Umesh Das, lab Incharge, Yugantar Bharti.

The State Government has made a great initiative to promote the usage of Rooftop Solar PV system through Grid-Connected Rooftop Solar Programme under Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (JREDA).  The officials informed the people about conservation of electricity through solar energy and solar energy projects of RIMS, Ranchi, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyalaya (KGBV) School, Potka and Nepal House, Ranchi.

Awareness and information about the process of Rain Water Harvesting and its importance is given by the display of models in a stall put up by the State Government. Tata Steel Company has put a stall displaying its sustainability in steel manufacturing and various environment conservation and waste management projects.

In broachers distributed by officials, Tata Steel mentions about its environment conservation projects of installation of 92 smart bins, 16 Bio-gas plants, 18,000 lED street lights for power conservation and reforestation by planting 5000 saplings in Noamundi.

On Wednesday, a prize distribution ceremony was held in Environmental Conclave to reward the students’ who excelled in the painting and essay competitions. “Students from 24 districts of Jharkhand had participated.” said, Anand Kumar, at the Environmental Conclave.

The event was marked by the presence of Neera Yadav, HRD Minister and Saryu Roy. To create awareness about several environmental conservation programmes, which are running under Government organizations and Private Companies like Inland Waterway Authority of India, Zoological Survey of India, Central Pollution Control Board, Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (JREDA), Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Usha Martin ltd, Tenughat Vidyut Nigam ltd have put up stalls.
