A comedy play ‘Udhaar Ka Pati’ was staged at Shaheed Bhavan auditorium here on Thursday. The play marked the conclusion of a two day theatre festival ‘Ekta Natya Samaroh 2018’.

Directed by Nilima Rawal, the play was written by Vanmala Bhavalkar.

The play was beautifully performed by the artists of Ekta Madhya Pradesh Government Employee Theatre Troupe, Bhopal.

Sheela, the protagonist of the story lied to her grandfather that she has married a rich man. Now her grandfather is coming to pay her a visit. Before the story takes a twisted turn, it is revealed that grandfather had cut all his connections with Sheela long back as she got married against his wish.

To turn this lie into a truth Sheela borrows things from her neighbour Shobha to decorate the house and show off in front of the grandfather This time Sheela’s husband Ashok who had put a lot of efforts earlier to convince the grandfather doesn’t want to face him and hence he was asked by Sheela to act like a cook, as the grandfather had never seen him.

Now starts the comical track. Sheela has to make Shobha’s cousin agree to act as her husband.

Then things get tangled when everyone gets to know that the fake husband is Sheela’s cousins’ boyfriend but everything gets solved when Ashok reveals all the secrets.

At the end, the audience witnessed the real climax when the grandfather reveals that he knew everything from the beginning and was also enjoying the drama, so he decided to keep mum.

At the end the entire family gets re-united and lives happily.

The play was beautifully staged leaving the audience into whirls of laughter.

The dramatic situations were made more comic with perfect dialogue delivery and fantabulous performance.
