The current cold wave in Raipur will remain unabated at least for the next 48 hours but the weather department has predicted slight improvement in chilly weather from Wednesday onwards.
Raipur recorded the coldest weather of the past 10 years on Sunday as the day began with foggy climate but the temperature improved in afternoon period.
State’s northern part mainly of Ambikapur region has been witnessing an intense cold wave for several days with temperature has dipped to 4.4 Degrees Celsius on Sunday.
According to local meteorological centre, the cold wave will persist in the state for the next two days. The lowest temperature recorded in capital city on Sunday was 8.9 degrees Celsius while lowest in Ambikapur and Pendra were 4.4 and 4.5 degree Celsius respectively.
The Meteorological centre data showed that since year 2008 mercury had never dropped below 9 degrees Celsius in Raipur but the 10 year’s record was reset on Sunday with temperature dropped to 8.9 degree Celsius.
