Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate Plastic Waste Management Project on World Environment Day on June 5 at Samanvay Bhavan Bhopal. Chouhan will give away prizes to the institutes, individuals for outstanding work in the field of environment and winners of painting contest and mini marathon organised by Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board during the programme. Environment Minister Antar Singh Arya will preside over the programme.
Various programmes focussed on “End of Plastic Pollution” in state are being organised in the state from May 27 to June 5 by the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board. Swachhata Abhiyan has been launched on the banks of Bhopal lake, Narmada and other rivers to make people aware of pollution created from plastic. An attractive street play on this subject was staged in New Market and DB Mall, Bhopal on May 29. Another street play was staged at Iqbal Maidan on May 30.
The Board will launch an environmental cleanliness campaign from 7 to 8 am at Shahpura lake and EPCO premises on June 4 to make people aware of the advantages and disadvantages of environment. Officers and employees of all five offices situated in EPCO premises will take part in the campaign. The Board will organise an exhibition based on the various causes of pollution and its solution between 4-6 pm at T.T. Nagar Stadium on June 4-5. Thousands of children will take part in an environment public awareness mini-marathon from 5 pm on June 4 at T.T. Nagar Stadium. A workshop on “Beat Plastic” will be organised at 11.30 am on June 4 at Narmada Club, Habibganj besides a painting contest which will be organized at T.T. Nagar Stadium from 7 am on June 4 to generate awareness and enthusiasm towards environment conservation among children. Winner children will be given prizes at the main programme to be held in Samanvay Bhavan.
