In a bid to facilitate patients an Oxygen generator would be installed at Sadar Hospital in Bokaro very soon.
This decision has been taken in a hospital management committee meeting held at the district health department, informed Dr Arjun Prasad.
Oxygen generators take in the air and remove nitrogen from it.
The resultant gas is an oxygen enriched gas for use by people who require medical oxygen due to low levels of oxygen in their blood, he said.
It operates 24x7 and no more cylinders handling, connecting, disconnecting is required; the most important thing is that there is no operator required and hospital or doctor or any medical staffs no longer has to worry about going the cylinder empty, said Prasad.
Oxygen cylinders are at a high pressure and prone to leak and failures but oxygen generators are very safe and useful, it produces gas at very low pressure and also keeps only a small amount of backup in certified storage tanks.
Hence, the risk of oxygen combustion is minimised, informed a technical expert.
“It is an automatic system in which a button when pressed will start the machine and within 5 minutes you may use the Oxygen produced,” he added.
A photo-therapy machine would also be installed at NCU and new blankets, bed-sheets, table and chair would be purchased soon to facilitate patients.
Beside others, Civil Surgeon S Murmu, Sushma Devi, A Mahato was present in the meeting.
