The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday lodged a complaint with State Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo while citing that the party activists are being targeted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers .
They also complained that officials deputed for election duty are indulging in seizure of publicity materials even after the party obtaining required permission.
AAP State Coordinator Sanket Thakur said at Bhanupratappur, the AAP party workers were physically attacked by BJP workers including damage caused to vehicles when the party workers were travelling.
AAP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Komal Hupendi was abused by caste but even after lodging complaint with police, no action has been taken against the culprits, he said.
Thakur added recently at Antagarh Assembly constituency in Pakhanjore, district AAP vice-president Pradeep Mandal was physically assaulted and no action was taken against the culprits.
“On the other hand, the AAP supporters moving on vehicles having prior permission, are also being targetted by the police who are taking away the publicity materials like caps, pamphlets and even vehicles are being seized,” said Thakur. Similarly, at Sitapur, Raipur South, Raipur West and Raipur Rural also similar action was taken and vehicles seized, he added.
“At Khujji, Dhamtari, Takhatpur, Bilaspur and other areas even after having permission to hold the public meetings, at last moment the orders were cancelled. It seems that police and administrative officials are working round-the-clock for BJP while making the office of Chief Electoral Officer as a shield of protection, so that nobody one can raise any voice,” Thakur said.
He has said CEO office has been urged to conduct impartial probe into the matter as in near future with electioneering picking up more such incidents might happen.
AAP also sought for action against such officials to ensure free and fair polls in the state, Thakur said.
