A day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal criticised neighbouring States of Punjab and Haryana for failing to contain stubble burning, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said that the BJP-ruled States have taken effective steps to control such incidents.
Gupta said that the satellite images released by NASA have shown that the BJP-ruled Haryana and UP have put an appreciable halt to the stubble burning. The interpretation of NASA imagery shows that the BJP-ruled Haryana and UP (Western parts) have controlled the stubble burning incidents to great extent but the Congress Government in Punjab is far behind in controlling the menace.
The fire incidents in Punjab, Haryana and Western UP were respectively 2847, 341 and 228 on 28th October. It is clear that the number of fire incidents in Punjab is 734 pc over that of the Haryana.
