The intense cold wave conditions continued to prevail in the State with the minimum temperature dipping to 3 degree Celsius in Daringbadi in Kandhamal district.
Bhubaneswar also recorded a lowest minimum temperature of 8.2 degree Celsius on Sunday. Sources said that the minimum temperature recorded in the State capital in December is lowest in the past 22 years. The city had witnessed minimum temperature of 9.1 degree Celsius in 1996.
A similar lowest minimum temperature of the season was also recorded at several places in the State, including the coastal pockets. Cities which experienced minimum temperatures include Cuttack 8.2 degree, Baleswar 7.8 degree, Balangir 7.1 degree, Sambalpur 7.3 degree, Jharsuguda and Angul 5.6 degree, Phulbani 4.5 degree and Titlagarh 7 degree Celsius.
Due to the western disturbance, Odisha would experience extreme cold wave condition till January 4, 2019, informed the Regional Office of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Sunday. The bitter cold has thrown life out of gear in several parts of the State and people are forced to remain indoors till 10 am.
