The remote bordering village of Bade Odagaon under Farasgaon block of insurgency-infested Kondagaon district in Bastar has been selected under Prime Minister Model Village (Adarsh Gram) Scheme.
Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment under the Prime Minister Model Village Scheme has selected 70 new villages from 19 districts of Chhattisgarh, officials informed.
For implementation of schemes, at district and village level , a Coordination Committee will be formed. District- level Committee will have District Collector as Chairman while Sarpanch of village will be Chairman of village-level Committee.
The Committee will have representation from Tribal Welfare Department and Janpad Panchayat, Women and Child Development , Education, Health, Public Health Engineering, Public Works Department, Irrigation, Food Security, Agriculture, Power and Telecommunications departments, so that concerned works in village are handed over to these departments.
District Collector Neelkant Tekam visited the village and interacted with the villagers.
Speaking to the villagers he said, “Under inclusive developmental pattern, benefits of different schemes of different departments would be extended to maximum villagers. It includes health services, 12-month irrigation facilities to crop fields, school education, malnutrition-free village and easy access to pure drinking water, telecommunication connectivity and others.”
Women self help groups will be constituted which will be involved in self-reliance activities for setting up floor mill, packaging of spices after processing besides other trades. The villagers were appealed to send their children to Anganbadi Centre on regular basis.
