A journalist of an Odia daily was brutally attacked by two persons on Saturday in Baliapal of the district. The victim identified as Radhakrushna Sahu, was attacked with a sword when he was taking tea near a stall.
Three of his fingers were chopped off in the attack. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
Sahu named one Ayesh Sahu as one of the assailants. Meanwhile, police detained five persons including the main accused in the connection with the attack.
Basta SDPO Ranjit Prusty said some accused persons were rounded up and are being interrogated in connection with the incident.
There was business relationship between Radhakrushna and Ayesh and there was a dispute over the business between them. This could have led to the incident. The exact cause would be known after investigation, said Prusty.
