The Agriculture and Famers’ Empowerment on Friday signed an MoU with the Jindal Stainless limited (JSl) to develop a system to help farmers double their income.
This system would reach 2 lakh farmers across nine districts in three years.
The JSl would provide financial support to farmers as a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the programme would be implemented by the Gram Unnati, a social enterprise.
The MoU was signed by Agriculture and Food Production Director Dr M Muthu kumar and JSl head Mohan lal and Gram Unnati’s Aneesh Jain in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here.
The nine districts are Angul, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Khordha and Puri. Based on the success in these nine districts, the system would be introduced in all other districts.
The State Government would set up a State-level Advisory Committee and district-level Guidance Committees comprising relevant stakeholders to guide, assist and monitor the field deployment and impact of the system.
