Taking up the Bahumukhvikaso Gantavyah, the Sanskrit verse in Indian Institute of Management – Ranchi (IIM-R) logo that echoes the Institute’s mission to work towards ‘Holistic development of individual, institutions and the society at large’, the annual management fest of IIM-R, AGON – 4.0 kicked off on Saturday with much zeal and enthusiasm bringing in some of the best talents together. AGON 4.0 is a platform where some of the best minds of the country take part in the competitions from different sectors of management.
With more than 1500 participants across various events, AGON 4.0 has captured extensive attention amongst management enthusiasts in various B-Schools. AGON experienced a footfall of about 700 on its inaugural day here which include students from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIT Kharagpur, ISB, FMS, XLRI, IIM Calcutta, XIMB, NMIMS, IIM Indore, IIM Lucknow, IIT Madras and others.
The two-day event was inaugurated by IIM-R Professor KN Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Singh expressed his delight over the enthusiasm and active participation of the students that AGON has witnessed this year and urged to the students to consider this as a great opportunity of learning from practical exposure point of view.
Further, Singh emphasized upon the importance of discipline, teamwork and commitment in organising the events while focusing on learning from mistakes that help students become great corporate professionals.
Events like Cricket Mandi, an IPL based cricket auction by Conundrum, the Consulting Club, Finance Club’s Plutus, its flagship business valuation competition was organised on the first day.
Similarly, Hire, the HR Club, charged up the atmosphere with Varstand, a recruitment bidding competition, along with Marquess, the Marketing Club competition where evaluation of the participants is based on their branding abilities through an on the spot ad-making contest.
Meanwhile, the literary club organised debate, quiz and writing events. Sankriya’s Crack the Case was another attraction for those who aspire to be experts in ‘Operations’. Online quizzes, amongst which E-Cell conducted Entrepreneurial Quotient, while QR Code, the Quiz Club had Gnosis to test participants’ general awareness received huge response from the participants.
Other events sucha as Parivridhi, Smadhan, Sab bikta hai and Cinema Paradiso have captivated the interest of large participants. Esteemed jury members from leading organisations like Goldman Sachs, Tata Group, Jharkhand Innovation Lab and Ernest & Young graced the occasion.
