8 arrested in clash between 2 groups at Tuiladungri

The police have arrested eight persons involved in a clash between two groups at Tuiladungri under Golmuri police station on Tuesday late night. Considering the tensed situation, police and quick response team have been deployed at Tuiladungri on Wednesday.

The incident started over an issue of bike overtaking which later snowballed into major dispute. Tuiladugri residents Ravi Singh and Sunny Singh were returning home from Golmuri bazaar. The former, who was riding the bike, overtook another and dashed with a bike coming from the opposite direction.

Police said this led to dispute between youths of Tuiladungri and Golmuri Muslim Bustee.

Earlier, there was also an altercation between Ravi Singh with some youths of Muslim Bustee in the evening and the situation took an ugly turn when the bikes hit against each other,  police added.

Following this the bustee youths assaulted Ravi and Sunny at about 11.30 pm and also chased them till their homes.

The youths from the bustee also pelted stones. later, police team from Golmuri police station were also targeted.

Golmuri police station OC Ramji Mahto, who was leading the police team, got injured in stone pelting.   Mahto suffered minor injuries in his mouth and shoulder and was taken to Tata Main Hospital for treatment.  Six policemen were also injured .

"The police deployment has helped control the situation. The situation would have worsened had police not increased security of the area," a Tuiladungri resident said.

SSP Anoop Birthray, City SP Prabhat Kumar, SDO Madhvi  Mishra  and ADM (law and order) Subodh Kumar also reached the spot to control the situation.

“The situation is better now. We have so far arrested eight persons. It was a fight between youths which led to stone pelting from one side. We will be making more arrest,” he added.
