52l neo-literates linked with schemes

About 52.23 lakh neo-literates have been linked with basic literacy under the Sakshar Bharat Yojana of the state. Simultaneously, the neo-literates have also been linked with the schemes launched in the state including Swachhata Abhiyan, Jan Dhan Yojana, ladli lakshmi, Jeevan Jyoti and Health Department schemes. During the campaign, the neo literates have been made aware towards education, which has reduced the percentage of children leaving school.

The Sakshar Bharat Yojana was launched in state in year 2009. AS per the year 2001 Census, this scheme was launched in 42 districts where the female literacy rate was 50 per cent less. Rural women, Scheduled Case/Scheduled Tribe, Groups which did not have enough opportunities for development were linked with rural women, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, minority groups in the periphery of the scheme. The literacy project was implemented with prominence in tribal districts of the state. The scheme was implemented jointly by the Department of School Education and literacy Department of the Ministry of Human Resource Development. So far 8 neo-literate examinations have been conducted in the state.

Madhya Pradesh has bagged three awards in various categories at the national level in the year 2017 under Sakshar Bharat Yojana. The School Education Department’s Rajya Shiksha Kendra bagged the Best State award in the form of State literacy Mission Authority.

District Public Education Committee Tikamgarh district bagged the Best District award and State Resource Centre, Indore received the national award for Best State Resource Centre. As many as 24 thousand adult illiterates from 31 Member of Parliament Model villages of the state have surfaced as neo-literates.
