Over 50 artists from South India performed classical dance on Malaviya Ghat at Har Ki Paidi near the historical clock tower to give a message on clean and free-flowing Ganga river as part of Haridwar Nrityotsav. The festival was organised by Haridwar Ganga Mahasabha in the presence of Akhada adherents.
Speaking on the occasion the Mahamandaleshwar from Naya Udasin Akhada, Swami Prakashanand Saraswati said, “Ganga is eternal and has been given the status of Dev Nadi in our holy scriptures and belief. We all must strive to keep it clean and ever-flowing and this can be achieved only with the participation and contribution of the general public.”
The Ganga Mahasabha president Purushottam Sharma Gandhiwadi said, “Around 50 artists from South India in their traditional costumes participated in Nrityotsav organised on the banks of Ganga at Har Ki Paidi. Adiyogi lord Shiva had also performed cosmic dance and through this Nrityotsav a message of conservation of Ganga under the flagship of Namami Gange project was given.” lord Krishna has also narrated in 10th chapter of Bhagavad Gita that He is ‘Jhanvi’ among all the rivers, added Purushottam Sharma highlighting the religious importance of the river.
