Thanks to the apathy of the State Health Department, over 115 doctor posts out of 219 are lying vacant in the Community health Centres (CHC) and Sub Divisional Headquarters Hospitals (SDH) of Bargarh district.
BJP leader and former MP nominee Subash Chouhan alleged that though the State Government has been claiming that essential amenities like education, health and drinking water are available in most parts of the State, the residents of Bargarh district face numerous problems due to huge vacancies of doctors in almost all hospitals.
This is despite there are two MPs and two State Ministers from the district, he added. According to sources, in Bargarh District Headquarters Hospital, out of 71 doctor posts, 38 are lying vacant, at Padampur SDH, eight out of 18 posts are vacant, while the vacancy position of doctors in Sohela CHC is seven, Barpali CHC three, Agalpur CHC three, Pahadshigida CHC, Bheden CHC, Dava CHC, Bukuramunda CHC, BhuktaCHC and Jamala CHC six each, Bijepur CHC three, Katapali CHC five, Bhatli CHC five and Talpali CHC four.
Meanwhile, the locals have threatened to hold stir if the administration does not take corrective action soon.
