All houses that have remained deprived of light since several years will now have power connections. The Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana Soubhagya Yojana being implemented is showing positive results. Power connection is being provided to houses on the basis of information collected and survey by various agencies.
Target has been set to provide nearly 35 lakh houses with power connections by October this year in State.
With the implementation of Soubhagya Yojana, 9.17 lakh houses have already been given power connections in state.
Three districts of the State are such that have been covered under Soubhagya Yojana. Out of these Indore, Neemuch, Mandsaur districts have achieved cent percent target. The Electricity Department is reaching far flung villages and ensuring availability of power connection.
Three power distribution companies and their squad are fully active in the implementation of Soubhagya Yojana. The Purva Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company has been given a target of giving power connections to 16.80 lakh houses in 20 districts. The company has provided 2.73 lakh houses with power connections so far. Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company has provided power connections to 4.05 lakh houses as against target of 16.24 lakh houses in 16 districts in the region.
Similarly, Pashchim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company has provided power connections to 2.38 lakh houses against the set target of 6.29 lakh houses in 15 districts.
At least 60 per cent amount is being made available under Soubhagya Yojana in the form of subsidy. The remaining 40 per cent amount is being arranged by the state government and the three Vidyut Vitaran Companies.
Free power connections are being given to economically and socially weaker beneficiaries under the scheme. Rs 500 will be taken from the other beneficiaries in 10 installments along with the electricity bill every month.
